What can I do if I can’t open a business bank account because my country isn’t accepted?
You can still progress by: (1) finalizing formation + operating agreement, (2) preparing your business plan/website/invoices, (3) selecting a bank and confirming their EIN requirement (some will not open without EIN), and (4) ensuring you have an acceptable physical US address. If EIN is delayed, follow up on EIN status and consider alternate submission methods. Once EIN is issued, banking usually moves faster.
Some fintech banks, including providers such as Mercury, Relay, or Slash, may restrict applications for international founders based on country or address eligibility. doola can provide guidance on preparation, but cannot override a bank’s eligibility or compliance policies.
If one provider rejects your application, alternative banking solutions may still have their own requirements and may require a U.S. address or ITIN. Reviewing banking eligibility before formation helps make sure your options align with your location.
Mercury accepts banking applications with a pending EIN.
