Who is subject to ODI compliance guidelines?

ODI (Overseas Direct Investment) compliance guidelines apply to a range of Indian residents and entities under FEMA rules, including: ## Indian residents: any Indian citizen or resident individual who invests in a foreign entity or acquires ownership in a business outside India, whether for personal or business purposes. ## Indian companies: businesses incorporated in India that expand internationally through mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, or wholly owned subsidiaries abroad. ## Partnership firms and LLPs: Indian partnership firms and Limited Liability Partnerships that invest in foreign companies or entities. ## Other Indian entities: trusts, societies, and other entities registered under Indian law that make direct investments abroad. If you fall into any of these categories and are investing outside India, ODI compliance requirements apply to you.
