How to apply for an ITIN through doola

An ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) is a tax ID the IRS issues to people who need one for US tax purposes but aren't eligible for a Social Security Number. An ITIN belongs to a person, not a company. Each member who needs one applies separately, and one ITIN covers all of that person's companies. Not every founder needs an ITIN. To check whether you do, see "Am I required to get an ITIN?". ## Before you start - The ITIN service is available for company members who aren't US persons and don't already have an ITIN or an ITIN request in progress. - You'll need the member's passport as a PDF file. Make sure the entire passport page is visible, including all four corners, and that the scan is clear and in color. The passport must be valid for at least 6 more months. ## How to apply In your doola dashboard, go to Services > ITIN Registration. You'll pay for the service and complete a short request form. You'll see the price before you pay. The request form has these steps: 1. Choose the member the ITIN is for. This step only appears if your company has more than one member. 2. Confirm the member's personal details. They're pre-filled from your company information, and you can edit them. 3. Upload the passport as a PDF. If your company has more than one member, you can start another request for a different member from the same page. ## Track your request Open ITIN Registration in the Services section of your dashboard to see the status of each request. When the ITIN is issued, you'll see it on your dashboard, and the ITIN documents will be available under My Documents > Tax. Processing time depends on the IRS.
