How much does it cost to form and maintain an LLC in different states?

LLC costs generally break down into two types of fees: a one-time filing fee to form your LLC with the state, and a recurring fee (usually annual, sometimes every two years) to keep it in good standing. Missing the recurring fee is one of the most common reasons an LLC gets administratively dissolved. A lower fee doesn't mean you should form there For non-US residents, you can form your LLC in any state -you're not required to form where you live. Wyoming and Delaware are the two most common choices for non-US founders, largely for reasons beyond just fees (privacy, flexibility, and how well-understood their LLC laws are to banks and courts). If you're a US resident, it usually makes more sense to form in your home state - forming somewhere else means you may also need to register as a "foreign LLC" in your home state, which effectively means paying and maintaining two states' worth of fees instead of one. Current fees vary by state and change over time Because every state sets and periodically updates its own filing fee, annual/biennial fee, and franchise tax, we're not publishing a specific dollar table here that could go out of date. For your specific state (or for Wyoming/Delaware specifically), check your dashboard or ask the doola team - we keep current fee information internally and can confirm it for your situation before you file.
