How to file Form 5472 for a foreign-owned LLC

You file Form 5472 if your LLC is at least 25% foreign-owned and had certain reportable transactions with a related party during the year; doola can prepare and file it for you. Form 5472's official IRS name is "Information Return of a 25% Foreign-Owned U.S. Corporation or a Foreign Corporation Engaged in a U.S. Trade or Business." It requires information about your entity, its ownership, and the reportable transactions between your LLC and its related parties (which can be foreign or domestic). Foreign-owned single-member LLCs file Form 5472 together with a pro forma Form 1120, which is the corporate tax return used only as a cover document to attach Form 5472 to. Filing responsibility ultimately remains with you as the business owner (or your accountant), but doola provides guidance and can file both forms on your behalf.
