What is Form 8821 and how is it used for your EIN?
Form 8821 lets doola access information from the IRS and follow up on your EIN application or the tax matters covered by the authorization. It is not a power of attorney and does not let doola represent you before the IRS.
Signing Form 8821 does not give doola authority to make business decisions for you or sign documents on your behalf. It authorizes access to limited tax account information tied to the specific matter. A power of attorney requires IRS Form 2848.
## Form 8821 and Form SS-4
Form SS-4 is the application you use to apply for your EIN. Form 8821 lets doola follow up with the IRS on that application or other tax matters covered by the authorization.
You may be asked to sign both at different points in the process. If you don't see Form 8821 or Form SS-4 in your My Documents, first check your email inbox and spam folder for the signature request.
These forms typically appear in your dashboard only after you've completed the e-signature step through that email link. Still can't find your Form 8821 or SS-4 signature email after checking your inbox and spam folder? Click the chat button in the bottom-right corner of this page or email us at hello@doola.com.
